Gaffer ("we", "our", "the app") is operated by Frederik Gjørup Nielsen. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Account information: Email address and name (for authentication)
Coach profile: Club name, age group, licence level, and brand colors you provide
App content: Tactics, drills, squad data, player names, jersey numbers, and playbooks you create
Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe and Apple (via RevenueCat for iOS). We do not store card details.
Device identifiers: For push notifications (optional)
Analytics: Anonymous usage data via Firebase Analytics to improve the app

Google Gemini AI — AI-Powered Coaching Features

Gaffer offers AI-powered coaching features using Google's Gemini AI (accessed via the Firebase AI Logic / Gemini Developer API). These features include drill generation, session planning, notebook analysis, match preparation, and dashboard insights.

Data shared with Google Gemini:

Your coach profile information (name, club name, licence level, age group, skill level)
Text prompts and questions you submit to AI features
Tactics board content (player positions, formations, equipment layout)
Match board setups and tactical plans
Squad fitness status (number of fit, doubtful, and injured players)
Pitch configuration (size, orientation)
Player names and jersey numbers when present on boards

Purpose: This data is sent to Google solely to generate personalised coaching suggestions, drill setups, and tactical analysis.

Data retention: Data sent to Google Gemini via the Firebase AI Logic API is processed in real-time and is not stored by Google after processing, in accordance with Google's AI data usage policies.

Consent: AI data sharing requires your explicit opt-in consent before any data is sent to Google. You can grant or revoke this consent at any time in Settings > Privacy & Data. Revoking consent immediately disables all AI features and prevents further data sharing.

Google's policies: Data processing by Google is subject to the Google AI Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

Third-Party AI Data Protection

We require all third-party AI providers to maintain data protection standards equivalent to our own. Data shared with AI providers is limited to what is necessary for the requested feature, is transmitted securely via encrypted connections (TLS), and is not used to train AI models unless explicitly disclosed.

Transactional and marketing emails.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Marketing Emails

We only send marketing emails if you explicitly opt in. You can change your preference at any time in Settings or via the unsubscribe link in any email.

Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account directly in the app under Settings. For other requests, contact us at support@gafferapp.net.

Children's Privacy

Gaffer is designed for coaches, not children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email.
